Google has been remodeling every Google product with enhanced security features and with better management controls. We can see in last few months, Google has updated Google calendar with various new feature and with a better look and it will soon be planning to update the Google drive and Gmail with enhanced security features.
Google has come up with an information card for users, where anyone can see with whom they are communicating with. Whether a user uses a calendar or Gmail, it is always necessary to confirm to whom you are inviting in your top management meeting or sending a confidential mail.
With this information card, a user can see the important details of the user in any Google products web page like Google+ and Google calendar. This card will appear once the user hovers upon some username or profile picture on Google apps web page. This card will contain the following information about the user.
- Name
- Email ID
- Contact Number
- Job title
- Department
- Contact info
- Call to Action Links — Connecting with user’s hangouts, social media profile etc
To update this information, G-suite admin can update this data using the mentioned steps in the Google support page by going to the below pages in the admin console.
- User Section in Admin Console
- Admin SDK, or
- Google Cloud Directory Sync
Google admin can delegate information card editing rights to end users for their profile from admin console by going to at Apps > G Suite > Directory. End users can go to About me (aboutme.google.com) and update their profile.
Google is also planning to use the same logic with Google calendar where a user will see the populated calendar resource rooms list on that particular work location while booking an event.
Currently, Google has launched this card feature to Google+ and calendar and will be released to other G-Suite products.
