Now days we always hear news related to hacking accounts. Make sure your gmail is not hacked. Hackers generally target the widely used pages, email clients in internet. Gmail is the one of the most loved platform for hackers. Sometimes it happens like Gmail has been hacked without the owner’s knowledge.
Gmail has some awesome feature through which we can check your gmail account is hacked or compromised.
1. Check the Last 10 login locations of your gmail account.
Open your Gmail account in desktop.
Scroll down to the end of the page.
Gmail has introduced this awesome feature for its users, Click on “Last account activity details” and you can see all the last 10 logins details with their IP and location.
If you find anything suspicious, click on ‘Sign out of all other web sessions’. This will make all other web sessions logged out expect the one you are using now. You can also set alert for any future suspicious activities to prevent your gmail hacking.
In the bottom of pop up window, click on Alert preference ‘change’ and set the alert for any suspicious activity.
2. Check out your Mail forwarding settings and confirm if your account is hacked or not.
One of the great feature of gmail is mail forwarding, where a user can Forward a copy of incoming mail to another user. Some times hackers do changes the forwarding settings of the user, so all mails will be forwarded to hacker’s address without your knowledge.
For checking the forwarding settings, go to gmail settings (Gear symbol on the top right corner). Again click on Settings option on the drop-down.
If you can see any mail address under forwarding address column which you have not added. If yes someone else is reading your mails, you gmail has been hacked. Remove the account from your forwarding list.

3. Check Your mail delegation settings
Its a bit similar setting as forwarding setting but more dangerous than forwarding, User can only read mails after getting forwarding access but Delegation gives user’s mailbox access to other user, the other user can read all mails and also send mails on behalf of the user.
Go to gmail settings (Gear symbol on the top right corner). Again click on Settings option on the drop-down.
Check the email addresses present under ‘Grant access to your account’ if there is any email address which you have not added. Remove it ASAP.
4. Keep your POP and IMAP settings
POP and IMAP gives user to access your gmail in third party client like outlook, Thunderbird etc. So just make sure if you have not enabled your gmail POP and IMAP.
Go to gmail settings (Gear symbol on the top right corner). Again click on Settings option on the drop-down.
If you are not using POP or IMAP , just disabled it.
and make sure if you find anything unusual from above mentioned steps, Sign out of all other web sessions and reset your password immediately.
