Hello Guys, What’s up, Welcome to my tutorial on Google apps. In this tutorial we will talk about further settings in Google Groups. So lets go to the groups module, then i will go to a particular group, then into its access settings. it will redirects me to groups.google.com module. Now i should be inside access permissions. We will talk about moderation permission in this tutorial. We have already talked about basic permission, posting permission and access permission , so you should be quite clear about what these permissions means and how to deal with them. So here in moderation permission you can basically define different types of permissions which can be modulated by you like someone is trying to join the group then the request will come to you and it will be in a moderation queue. When ever you approve or reject member will be added to the group. Similarly some one can post, you can allow banning of users, deletion of post, everything to be moderated on your wish. Then in moderation permission, you see add members, So users can add members directly to the group. who can add the member, you can define that here. Generally managers and owners should be able to add so the setting is.. But you can also moderate it. You can define custom roles which we talked in the last tutorial. Then you can approve members. Who can approve the members, you can define it here, i will put managers also. Approve messages then ban users. Generally moderation setting i will suggest you to keep the permission restricted to the owners and managers only. There are various other settings like edit other post, edit own post, user should not be allowed to do these things because you will lose control over the group and it may get you into some messy situations. Invite members, lock topics, mark duplicate. Some times topics can be repeated by various users, so what you can do is, you can mark it duplicate if you know that topic was posted previously. I will only go over the important options here because everything is user friendly, its written here what these options mean and as you know permission means you have to define, who can do this particular action in the group. Then move topics in, users can move topics in the forum, move topics out of the forum. Modify roles, generally owners can only have these privilege to modify the different roles. This is the role section we already discussed about how you can create roles, how you can create delete roles, how you can add users to particular roles. Then you have sticky topic option like a particular topic which is very important or which is very informative can be made sticky to the group, so it will be the first thread of the group when someone is visiting to the group should see the thread, so generally if you have any forum instructions or rules that are to be followed in the forum or group then you should keep that topic as sticky. This is about what sticky topic is. But this is irrelevant here because you have to give permission to owner or manager, as we are talking in these moderation settings, moderation permissions. Then un-assign topic, mark favorite reply on any topic. Sometimes users can reply, there can be multiple replies to any particular topic, particular question, so whatever be the best answer. you can always give permissions to some people who can choose that. I will give permissions to all members because it can’t be a unanimous decision. So these settings will always depends upon your organisational policies and how you want to maintain this particular group. Then after moderating these settings you can click on save. So these settings will been saved in the group. It haven’t take time to replicate to the group. Do not forget to subscribe, like to my tutorial if you have any questions you can always post in comments and we will get back with the reply soon.
